The Canmake Team
|Robert Mancini, Chief Executive Officer
Born and raised in England, Robert has been lucky enough to bounce around the world for the last 25+ years while working in retail for Ralph Lauren, Alfred Dunhill, and Victoria’s Secret. Passionate about family, travel, design, and cars, when he’s not working you’ll find him hanging out with his family or fooling around with a classic car.
|Jaime Derringer, Founder + Executive Editor
A Jersey girl living in SoCal, Jaime operates JD2 Media and the “Milk” sites, collects milk cartons and chunky necklaces and lusts over one day owning a striped Gaetano Pesce Up5 Chair. Jaime has been noted as an expert on design trends, speaks on design, blogging & social media, and does some consulting on the side. She likes to run, write poems, draw and paint.
|Katie Freitas-Seitz, Creative Director
Katie is a Libra, side sleeper, and semi-professional dog spotter born and raised in California’s Wine Country. After graduating from UC Berkeley with a double major in Anthropology and Portuguese, she moonlit as a copywriter and creative strategist for emerging lifestyle, beauty, and design brands. She loves traveling, Dolly Parton, elaborate skincare routines, and hanging with her adopted pitbull daughter, Paloma.
|Lucy Spencer, Marketing Director
Originally from the UK, Lucy graduated from University of the Arts in London and went on to build her career in marketing. With over 20 years experience in international retail marketing and brand management for companies such as Disney and Victoria’s Secret, Lucy now resides in Columbus, Ohio. When not working, she loves traveling and exercising her creative side through drawing and painting.
|Stephanie Jones, Finance Director
A native of Ohio, Stephanie graduated from The Ohio State University and loves living in Columbus. A CPA and Mom, she loves simplicity, structure, and balance (especially when debits = credits). You can find her chasing her husband on a 3-mile run, at her daughter’s swim meets, or at her son’s tennis tournaments. She balances by retreating to her “she cave” in the basement practicing Yoga or foam rolling. When she’s not number crunching, you might also find her trying a new recipe in her kitchen with her poodle by her side to taste test.
|Caroline Williamson, Editorial Director
When 7-year-old Caroline made it her mission to redecorate her room weekly, build endless LEGO villages, and repeatedly paint and reconstruct Barbie’s dream house, she was either obsessive or a young design enthusiast in the making. After getting her BFA in photography from SCAD, she moved to Los Angeles and worked for a glass artist + designer, which gave her insight into all aspects of the design world. When she’s not working or on an airplane, she’s usually searching for vintage wares, doing New York Times crossword puzzles, or reworking playlists on Spotify.
|Kelly Beall, Senior Editor + Art Director
Kelly Beall is senior editor and art director at Canmake. The Pittsburgh-based graphic designer and writer has had a deep love of art and design for as long as she can remember, and enjoys sharing her finds with others at designcrushblog.com. When undistracted by great art and design, she can be found making a mess in the kitchen, consuming as much information as possible, or on the couch with her five pets.
|Capree Kimball, Pets Editor
Capree has a deep love of Victorian-era “fancy lads”, 19th Century anatomy drawings, and tin robots. She loves big, bold colors and big, bold patterns. Oh, and anything well-designed, especially if it’s something she can sit in. Capree was recently listed on Ignite Social Media’s list of “100 Women Bloggers You Should Be Reading” as well as Stylelist Home’s “5 Pinners to Follow Now“. When she’s not writing about all things dog, she spends her time gardening and watching other people’s dogs in her home.
|Vy Yang, Editor + Community Manager
After spending a summer in Italy to study art and language, Vy came back to California with a rejuvenated love for design (and a newfound love for espressos). Nowadays she enjoys contributing to Canmake, playing fetch with her goldendoodle Conan and occasionally writing on her blog It’s After Five, her creative outlet to let loose on when she has left her regular 9-to-5 for the day.
|Dani Howell, Copywriter and Editorial Assistant
Born and raised in Ohio—with a few years in Austin, Texas, thrown in—Dani earned her MA in literary and textual studies at Bowling Green State University and has been writing pretty much non-stop ever since. While completing her master’s degree, she worked as an editorial assistant at the Mid-American Review. Now, Dani has an upcoming publication in a collection for McFarland and currently works as a writer and editor for the lifestyle blogs Field Notes and The Good Guide. When she’s not working, chances are high she’s hanging out at a local coffee shop, enjoying a cup of coffee, a pastry, and a really good book.
|Gregory Han, Tech Editor
A Los Angeles native, Gregory’s interests fall upon the relationship between design, nature, and technology. His resume includes art director, toy designer, managing editor at Apartment Therapy, and design contributor at the New York Times’ Wirecutter, alongside appearing in other publications as diverse as Tom’s Guide, Vice Munchies, and Metropolis. You can find his most recent efforts as co-author of Creative Spaces, a book dedicated to people, homes and studios to inspire across the United States and beyond. He lives with his wife Emily and their two cats – Eames and Eero – in Mt. Washington, California, curiously investigating the entomological and mycological.
|Kelley Phillips, Operations and Systems Manager
Kelley wakes up everyday with the belief that there is nothing that she cannot accomplish. It doesn’t matter if it’s waking up to hit the gym at 4am, whipping up baked goods for the office, or raising two headstrong children—she gives it her all. Kelley brings that can-do mentality to work, striving to make every customer’s experience as effortless as she makes it look. It’s like she always says: “Complacency is the antithesis of growth.”
|Lisa Herrmann, Corporate and Trade Sales Manager
Lisa is an Ohio native and found herself staying in Columbus after attending Ohio State University (O-H!). She enjoys testing out her cooking skills and discovering new recipes on Pinterest, not taking life too seriously, and curling up with a glass of red wine.
|Taya Wilkes, Merchandising Assistant
Taya’s affection for retail and merchandising can be traced back to middle school when she visited the corporate office of a popular retailer in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Taya grew more passionate about merchandising while working in retail for almost 6 years. After graduating from West Virginia University in 2017, Taya was eager to take on the merchandising assistant role with Canmake doing what she loves.
|Melissa Green, Account Manager
With over 10 years in media under her belt and a lifetime in the San Francisco Bay Area, Melissa recently picked up and moved to Brooklyn, New York to experience actual seasons for the first time in her life. When not working on brand partnerships for Canmake, you can find her running at Brooklyn Bridge Park or trying to finish one of the myriad art projects she’s started but never completed.
|Colin Villone, Account Manager
A native New Yorker who once called Wyoming home, Colin has found his happy place in Atlanta where he and his family have lived for the past ten years. Colin’s a career-long publishing pro who enjoys helping his design brand customers beat their competition through creative marketing. He’s worked at several leading industry magazines such as Hospitality Design, Healthcare Design and Metropolis. When not working with clients or traveling to trade shows, Colin enjoys CrossFit, watching his kids play soccer or bragging about Villanova basketball.
|Anastasia Russ, Customer Service Representative
Transplanted to the Midwest from Philadelphia, Anastasia uses her love of anthropology and meeting new friends to bridge the gap between company and customer. She endeavors to solve the world’s problems one order inquiry at a time, raise capable and kind children, and answer the age old question, “What truths are absolute?”
|Keshia Badalge, Contributor at Large
Keshia grew up in Singapore and moved to the U.S. to attend Dartmouth College. When she was living abroad after graduation, a chance enrollment at the Architectural Association Visiting School led to her becoming enamoured with door schedules and architectural écriture. She has previously been on the team at ArchDaily, Dezeen and Asian Geographic and now contributes to various design publications such as Architectural Record and Apartment Therapy. She’s particularly interested in design for aging, rural architecture, and Asian design heritage.

|Katherine Becker, Pets Contributor
Katherine, who lives with her family in the mountains of North Carolina, curated her own dog blog for a couple of years before joining the canmake team.
